I’ve been fishing for these guys in East TN, NC, and Va.  It has taken a while, but I’m starting to get them dialed in.
This past weekend, I landed my biggest on a solo trip.  It was a true highlight of my flyfishing moments.

The conditions were a bit tough with the wind and clouds, but this fish made every hour worth it.
Stripped the fly by some timber and had a decent fish in hot pursuit.  As it neared the fly..it veered away swiftly as an even bigger  fish dominantly crushed the fly by my trolling motor.  It was an awesome moment.
She dug towards the timber, but I was able to steer her away and soon had the net ready.  I trolled to the bank, and kept her in the water, Snapped the photos in knee deep mud, and she swam off just fine.

I’m heading up again in October, so hopefully will have more to come.

Landing a 49″ fish solo is a feat in itself.

The upper Clinch: fished heavy at takeouts, but very, very little pressure from people floating.
