I have been tying a lot of seaducers (hackle flies) lately. I have this crazy idea to try to and catch as many species of fish as possible on a seaducer this coming year. Below is a picture of some of my favorites so far. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic. Some are for saltwater and others for bass and I have one I want to try on trout. Two of my favorites are tied on 3/0 worm hooks. Not much room to work with on those hooks, but should ride hook up. Plan to drag them on the bottom using a full sinking line. Wish me luck with my goal.
Great Seaducers Mickey. Let us know how they work. IMHO, it might be a bit too cold this weekend for “good” Seaducer fishing on the river. Also, the barometer in your area (I checked) will be a bit off – thus that style of fishing might be challenging. Post a reply and let us know how it goes.
Mickey, seriously let me know if you end up catching any trout in cold/moving water with the Seaducer (and if so what size, color, etc). I am keeping a log and to date have noticed very little action with the trout on the river.
Bad weather has had me stir crazy so I started tying some seaducer variations and then decided to try an articulated fly. This is pretty much a rip off of the Galloup style flies but instead of deer hair or wool, I tied in hackle. Others may have done this before but I haven’t seen this. I am callingit Seaducers Spawn. Looks great jerk stripped in my swimming pool!
