I have a spool of 2nd generation Orvis Depth Charge in 400gr that was broken in the running line last year (it was a lucky catch that my daughter managed to grab the end during a strip retrieve) during some Jack fishing in the gulf.

You have a number of options.

Look up line splicing; you can basically strip some of the coating off and thread the core through the other broken end with a needle.

I do this all the time down here; anytime, in fact, there is a sinking line available that no longer serves its purpose.

I’ve started using 30# suffix running line with “recycled” heads from the many integrated lines I’ve busted over the years. I’m almost to the point where I prefer this set up now. That Suffix is very thin, ultra limp, and shoots extremely well. It’s different, but casting this setup takes much less casting speed to achieve the same distances. I just use the suffix as the running line on these setups I think I paid $10 for 300 yards of 30 in bright yellow. Buy some Suffix, some braided loops, and give it a try.
