the verdict is still out. Some like it because it’s a lot thinner than the usual lines. The inner core line is thinner (12 lbs instead of 20 lbs).
But I’ve heard some stories about memory problems.
I’ll stay with the regular lines from SA and Rio. 30 bucks aint much but it can be spent on other stuff as well.
The Quiet Double Taper is a great line. I use it on my 8’9″ 3 weight LL. It picks up off the water really smoothly and casts really well on lighter action rods. Give it a try especially if you can pick up last years stock at discount. Sage has switched from SA over to RIO for their lines and I guess the dealers are getting rid of their stock. The new line is Quiet Double Taper II and is about 65.00. It comes in a color called BLUE DUN and is a double taper only in a 80′ length. They use to make a weight forward also in the Quiet Taper but I think they discontinued it. I bought it on George Anderson’s recommendation and he was right on. Rio’s Selective Trout line is a really nice line too.
If you are looking for a thinner line, try the Cortland Sylk series. I put one of these on my Heddon bamboo rod and am thoroughly happy with it. It’s thinner then most modern lines so it shoots well through the guides, has hardly any memory and looks cool too with the classic silk line coloring.
