Got to cast both the largemouth and smallmouth rod today, and must say I was quite impressed. Rods handled very nice and casted the line with no effort. The rod excelled at both short and long casts. Also the rod is so easy to cast you really have to be trying to screw up not to make it shoot line. The line that it comes with is very nice. The head on it is freaking huge, it looks like a 12wt. line. I was messing around with the 330gr. and placed it on a 7wt. Z, can’t even describe how well it shot line. Awesome line and awesome rod.
I’ve had the Largemouth for a few weeks now and can’t wait to go fishing with it, cod season opens soon. Plenty of other species its going to be applicable to in this country as well. Agree that line just sings out there and I get the feeling it’ll throw Dahlbergs the size of a fist.
Its probably less of an issue for Aussies since largemouth and smallmouth are unheard of. But Ive had customers, creek smallmouth fishers coming in for these rods, thinking its going to be a nice short 6wt. ;D
Anything but. What these are is a great rod for throwing big flies in windy conditions _ and extracting the fish from cover when they eat.
