Rusty from Winter

Hey MikeA –
I went out tonight to show Caesar that 110′ cast – I’m still a little rusty from winter (my last session was last August).
I will bring the Zip Cast. Me and the kids went back to the field yesterday and I played around with the 5wt a little. I might have made 90′ on one cast but that was only once. I am working on the things you suggested BTW. I need to get into a better warm-up routine! I wear myself out too soon to the point where even keeping 30′ of line in the air is painful.
After I cast till my arm almost fell off I took the girls on an exploration trip to the river where my Grandfather had taken me to fly fish with live crickets when I was their age. We walked through the woods and fields, fell in the mud, walked in the creek with our good shoes, and just had a fun time. My Lab even showed up on the trip back. He sniffs us out every time. The highlight of the trip was when I ripped my slacks on a barbed wire fence… The rest of the trip the girls would talk like Sponge Bob Square Pants saying “Whoops,,, I ripped my pants again” and just laugh. They were astounded when we found the river and couldn’t believe it had been there all this time. Daddy I love this place! Can we came back here and swim in the summer? Eeeew yea, and you can fish while we swim.
Just before bed the little one asked, daddy can we go back to the river tomorrow? You need to wear some better pants if we do hehehehe!I think they’re hooked! ;D
MikeZach… stop it! The PC thing to do is cast like the rest of us so as not to hurt our feelings! ;D
Are you throwing all that line with a standard 5 weight and XXD (or XD)?
If so, you suck! ;D ;D
