First off, I can’t comment much on Loomis or Scott Rods. Have heard positive things though. I grew up in the shadow of the Sage plant on Bainbridge Island and naturally, my first rods were all Sage. I won’t list my modest collection either but am responding just to say that as my casting has developed to world class ( ;), in my dreams) I’ve gravitated more to medium action rods, for trout fishing in particular. Generally, I favor Sage rods from 6wt & up and Winston rods from 6wt & down. The faster action (Sage) rods are good for wind and throwing more “junk” but I like Winston LTs & WTs for medium to smaller streams. The softer rods protect tippets better and the fish can show off more. Perhaps even more important, softer rods are accurate in short ranges because they load well, whereas fast action rods don’t flex much and it’s almost a guess by comparison. Have thrown a Winston BT too and they are nice as well.
Just 2 cents.
