A buddy is currently able to get me a deal on any Sage rod that I want for a discount.
I just picked up a ZXL 8.5 4 weight. A really nice smooth and very light rod. The 8.5 5 weight is the same way. I have a 9 ‘ 6 weight Z-Axis also. I think Sage is making the best casting rods right now.
I have the ZXL 8’6 #3 and it’s wonderful.
The action is not fast IMO and has a lot of feel, but it will still throw a longer line if needed.
The Rio Gold wf is a great line for the rod.I think it’s the best light rod Sage has ever made and if they did one in a 2 weight I would be first in line for one.
