With my supply of Gudebrod dwindling I just wondered what other Gude users are switching to.

The other threads I use are UTC and Uni-Thread. I prefer the Uni to the UTC. I’m of the opinion that the UTC frays too easily. I also think that the Uni is more versatile in that it can be twisted or flattened better than the other depending on need.

I tie a lot of midges with Coats and Clark threads. That can be blamed on Don Holbrook and his book Midge Magic.

I’m also a Gudebrod 10/0 fan, and have a few spools left that should keep me going quite a while.

For trout flies (nymphs, dries) I use Uni-thread 6/0 and 8/0.
For tying deer hair bassbugs I use Danville Flymaster-Plus

Guys, I normally don’t post outright commercials but this week I dug out a bunch of our Gudebrod odd and ends, cleaning up stuff for our move next month.

Anyway to get rid of the Guebrod we are cleaning it out via our EBAY store
    http://stores.ebay.com/mountain-river-fly-shop, limited colors numbers 3/0; 6/0; 8/0 and 10/0.

We will be putting more on every day over the next week. Sorry I don’t have a full list, we really were trying just to clear it.

    Anyway hope it helps.

Personally Ive switched over pretty much primarily to UTC over the last few years, once you get the thread tension/amound of twist you need its superb and more and more colors coming in I even use it in place of floss.

    Cheers
