Refurbished equipment

    What are everyones thoughts on the “refurbished” equipment that is sold “out there”.

    I have the same feelings about refurbished equipment that I do with used cars. I buy what I think is well made, reliable, and I keep it until it is unusable, therefore I want it factory new when I buy it. I know others will disagree.

    My experience with these cameras is, used properly, you are going to need the warranty eventually.

    OK, taking into consideration the thoughts of Zach and flyfishertoo…what would you do in my situation.

    Having a young family, mortagage, etc etc, I have tried and tried to figure out a way to afford a D40 or D50 but just can seem to justify the $.

    Option #1 – look for a good deal on a refurbished D50 and possibly get a warranty on the lense so that in years to come I can just get a new body.

    Option #2 – Buy something like a Fuji S6000.

    I recently purchased a refurbished D70s from Adorama and picked up a 2-year warranty from Mack.
