While living in Colorado I caught “carp fever” for a period of a couple of weeks though it came quite unintential.

Carp ewwwwwwwwww hard fighting, none are small, highly selective fish…who wants that?

I love catching them on the fly! The lake Carp I have fished for are almost too easy. You could literally catch almost any one you could see if you didn’t spook it with a really bad cast or a noisy trolling motor bumping the bottom.

There is a large mud flat I like to fish that stretches for about a mile. It’s very soft mud and looks like a moonscape due to all the pot marks the carp have made over the years. I’ll get out of the boat and wade if they are in close to the bank, but mostly I stand on top of

I had one on a 5wt and light tippet once that took nearly an hour to land.
