    Hello,

When are you coming here and where are you going to fish? Based on that I can tell you what flies to have.

Roger Caylor mostly focuses on Appalachian patterns http://caylorcustomflies.com/ but he might be willing to tie what you want.  He does a few larger patterns.  Roger is a first-class guy and 100% honest.  You can pick up the phone and call him.  I try to tie my own, which often times is not very pretty, but I have bought several patterns from him at various FFF events.  My dad buys almost all of his flies from Roger.

I’m heading up to the Goodnews area in the middle of August for silvers and rainbows.

The fly stop is good quality flies.

In the past I have used
    blueflycafe.com
and was very happy with the flies I received.

The flyshop has a very good reputation as well.

Just to add to the fly stop, I know of a friend of mine who ordered his families flies for an Alaska trip and was extremely satisfied with his order.

Apparently there’s about to be a big new online fly website launched in the next few days.

Great article Zach.  Some things, like flies, are probably best (economically) done overseas.  Can you imagine an American tying 36,000 of the same fly every year without commiting suicide.  I just hope those ladies are treated right.

Of course, the trick is knowing who has the “A” flies.  I can’t tie little flies due to my big hands and residual neuropathy so I have been buying from either Orvis or Troutflies.com for $1.25 to $1.75 per fly.  I wonder how much of that actually ends up in the tyers hands.

So, Zach, do you not sleep?

So, Zach, do you not sleep?  Is that how you are able to maintain a law practice while tying flies, shooting photos, writing articles, making podcasts and taking cool trips?  Or are they, as one of my Trout Unlimited friends used to say “another coffin nail in a once-thriving law practice”?

This has come up before and I will let you in on a little known secret…Zach is actually twin brothers.  It is actually Zach and his brother Zach.  It is not known whether one is a lawyer and the other a fly fisherman or if the are interchangeable.  My understanding is they are so much alike that no one can tell them apart, except maybe Lauren….hopefully.

Zach – Do you have the name of that new shop that has opened up?

Also, I did read that article prior to posting…very interesting stuff.

Wow, I went to Fly Stop and couldn’t believe the price of their flies.  I don’t think I could get the materials to tie them that cheap.  If they are any good, I think I’ll buy some from them next time.

Those are crazy stupid low prices!

Apparently there’s about to be a big new online fly website launched in the next few days.  It’s going to be familiar to board members and knowing who is involved, it ought to be very nice.

    Zach

What was the new online fly site?
