John BennettMemberWell here it is, Sunday morning the suns just starting to light the sky. Soon I’ll be heading out scouting for Whitetails or grabbing the 4wt and hitting the stream behind my house.
It also marks the start of the last week of summer and is capping off what for me was a rare and great week. Last Friday I spent the day at an Upland Game farm, some photos are already in the photogrpahy forum. This Friday just past I arranged to take some colleagues and some of our clients, none of whom are really anglers out for a day of fishing for Chinooks on Lake Ontario. We started the day at sunup by hitting greasy spoon across from the marina..3 eggs, home fries, bacon and coffee…and for a good number of them Gravol.
The .5 day charter was a huge success. Everyone got a chance to feel something at the end of the line. However the fish were hitting short and most were long released. The biggest which the Capt and I estimated at 20pds+ was lost just short of being netted. Still our client will have a memory of it.

When I asked him how sore his forearms were all he could do was smile.Perhaps funniest of all was that our clients (BMO employees) were represented by what for me was a first in corporate branding. Id never seen this before, let alone the coincidence of finding it on board.

So those two fridays are the bookends to my Monday.
I spent Monday with a guide friend. We started at sunup.

The gameplan was to let the day unfold however it went. We’ve had record rainfall this summer, so it was no surprise when we called it a morning at our first stop. High fast flows, nil visibility and nary a riser (were were there for Tricos) had us revising our plans.
We decided todo some small stream prospecting and photography for the day. Heres a few spots we came across and did some prospecting.

Along the way we shared the stream with a GBH

Does this qualify as the obligatory food shot? God knows we could have like survivor man and made meals of them ourselves.

The quary.

The reward. A small stream jewel

An incidental Atlantic

And so ends another summer. Next week the kids are back in school and life carries on

David AndersonMemberNice work John.
I love the ‘small stream’, here we would class that as a river and get the big rods out.. 😀
The brookie in the water & net are both great shots..
