Chad SimcoxMemberHey guys I had my first published photo hit news stands this week! I haven’t seen it yet, but I have a 2 page shot on the Table of Contents of the new (July/August) issue of American Angler. Unfortunately, Barnes and Noble, Boarders, and the news stand in my neighborhood only carry 3 fishing magazines and American Angler isn’t one of them. I guess Hollywood isn’t exactly where the demographic for fly fishing magazines live. Hopefully I can make the drive to the one fly shop within 20 mi to pick up a copy.
This image was taken in December of 06 along the Cheeseman Canyon section of the South Platte River in Colorado.
I can’t wait to see it, if anyone has a copy and want’s to shoot a photo to show me, feel free to do so! ;D

MemberIt’s in there! Congratulations Chad. That’s awesome.
AA should send you copy. If they don’t I would ask.

The Itinerant AnglerHey Chad –
Out of curiosity, was this image taken with a tilt/shift lens or did you shift the focus around the fringes in photoshop?
Any idea how the editor of AA came to find your photo, buddy? 😉

Chad SimcoxMemberZach,
That was done in PS. A tilt shift lens is on my list of things to get. Or maybe a lensbabies mount instead.
Phil emailed me after seeing it on my site which I’d assume is due to this wonderful forum here. So thanks to you Zach.

MemberThe Photoshop work was handled well there. Â I almost always like your post processing, it’s different looking, big ups to AA for running it.
I like it even better without the giant-assed watermark covering it all up.  ha ha.  😉

I’ll take the “big ups” for publishing the shot (although Chad, of course, deserves all the credit for creating it) and let you guys know that we’re always looking for different views of the sport. Don’t be afraid to submit something that you might think is too “out there.”
The Table of Contents spread in every issue demands an arresting, interesting, or simply gorgeous horizontal image. They’re hard to find. I was very pleased to stumble on this image on Chad’s site. Rest assured that I’ll periodically troll through all y’all’s galleries looking for good stuff.
Thanks,
Phil
