well, it’s finally winter time here in erie, pa and the tribs are unfishable.  so, it was time to hit the fly tying vice to create a new fly to use once the weather breaks and it’s time to get after those steelhead before the return to the lake.

i got the following fly idea from a video that i watched of oliver edward’s tying his clinger nymph on The World Fishing Network at:

    http://www.wfn.tv/fishingtips/

it’s great to watch him tie and to listen to him speak.  what an interesting guy.  the second place that i found the inspiration for the fly below is from rivers fly fishing.  they have a great march brown pattern for the eastern pennsylvania streams.  here it is:

i basically took ideas from each of them and found what i could use in my fly tying material to come up with the following fly.  i hope you enjoy it and i’ll let you know if i catch anything with it when the weather turns a little better here in erie, pennsylvania.

    troop,

the water level is too low in the faster water to hold fish and the pools are pretty iced up around the edges from what i’ve heard.
