    I just got a Cabelas saltwater fishing catalog. While thumbing through it I was kinda surprised to see that big name spinning reel manufaturers are putting out $700.00 reels. I saw ones in that price range from several companies, including Shimano and Van Staal.

    Pointless post, but I always wondered when these companies would figure out what fly gear companies have always known.

    Funny aint it. You can get a conventional reel that can handle 1000 pound saltwater fish for about what it takes to buy a Ross 3 wt.
