MemberHey my fellow trout bums,
My young daughter suggested the other day we come up with a prayer to end the destruction of our mountains and rivers. We thought that was a pretty nice thought and idea, so, we wrote a prayer and have been running it in newspapers around West Virginia. Just wanted to share:A Prayer to End Mountaintop Removal …
Please forgive us for allowing the destruction of Your holy mountains and rivers.Send a message to our children and grandchildren that we will stop blasting Your mountaintops in the name of greed.
Let us be strong in the knowledge that You want us to be active in our prayers, lives, community and churches. We pray to bring Light to the dark evil that takes joy in making money from destroying all that we love.
Our air, water and soil are being killed by the hands of a few. We shall come together as one to speak for the trees, streams, and wildlife. We pray for the future generations who need our voice now.
We thank You for the beauty and magnificence of our natural world. And we pray for the protection of Your majestic mountains. Give all who feel Your love the strength to carry on, and let Your Angels surround us and keep us protected.
This we pray in Your name, Amen.
The Berger FamilyTight lines,
Dan Berger

The Itinerant AnglerThat is certainly an interesting tactic, Dan, and I imagine it has a good chance of being successful, especially in West Virginia.

MemberDan, thanks for sharing and stepping up to the forefront to battle for an important conservation cause. My wife and I were watching the new series on the national parks the other night and when the program made a political connection regarding the damming of the river in Yosemite to the appointment of a lead San Franciso developer to a Washington position that would lead to the approval of the project, she shook her head and said, “It’s all politics, isn’t it?”
Some where along the way people have to start asking, who made these decisions? It is amazing and disturbing how such monumental changes in the progress of America have been made by a few behind closed doors.
