The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
I get varying feedback on the podcast, when I get it at all. For instance, it’s been a while since I put up a Streamside Essay; that’s both because they are by far the most technically challenging episodes, and also because I was getting some unfavorable comparisons to things put out by professionals–that sort of ruined the fun for me (because obviously I can’t hit or compete with a professional standard, except maybe in the interview format).
So anyway, I’d like to ask for some general feedback via this poll in terms of planning where to go with the show this year. You can vote for more than one thing and if you want to add a comment that’s not described by the poll, please feel free.
Thanks,

MemberI enjoy the how to’s, but would wholeheartedly agree with abe. I also like the insiders look at the industry whether it be the fly tyer, rod maker, etc.

The Itinerant AnglerJay –
The length of the podcast is a two part tradeoff.

MemberI think the vast majority of the podcasts are excellent. To me, it is all about the personality of the guest and hearing their story, regardless of the vein of the subject matter. For instance, I think the Ted Juracsik podcast was one of the best, solely because he had such an amazing life story to tell.
As an alternative to Abe, I really enjoy the art based ones. But that has a great deal to do with my personal interest in writing and photography.
I couldn’t agree more. Personaly, I really enjoy the art and music podcasts, but as Jay said, I too thought the one on Ted Juracsik was a classic. Some of the podcasts that I have enjoyed the most besides the art and photography related ones, are Dr. Whiting, Tom Bie, April Vokey, and Kelley Galloup to name a few.
I think the idea about A.K. Best and John Geirach is great and I would love to hear them interviewed.

MemberThe concept of listening to a good interview on my ipod is appealing, but I have never gotten around to it. I am sure I will one of these days. I know I can listen on the computer, too, and that is what will most likely occur.
Edit: Listened to Whiting interview last night.

MemberI love the pod cast, I just keep hoping you get a steelheader on there like Dec Hogan, or John Hazel 😉

Memberhey zach,
the beauty of it is that the podcasts are free for the user/listener…for example, like abe, i am not much into the artistic side of the sport, but i appreciate that there are anglers/listeners who do appreciate it…therefore, i don’t select those podcasts. i just choose the ones i am interested in but i think it is great that you provide subjects across the spectrum.
i have taken to putting some of them on cd’s and just listening to them in cars on long drives…it is a great alternative to searching for radio stations….
thanks for offering them.Feb 27, 2010 at 9:31 pm #41910Chris Beech
MemberZach, I’m naturally drawn to the technical podcasts – the tackle industry insiders and ‘whats new’. I agree with Mike Anderson – an update on the latest gear every six months would be really great. Guess I’m a bit of a tackle rat ;).
Its always great to hear a little history from someone who has been around the block a few times.
You know what would make a good podcast? Turn the tables and have someone interview you…
Best Regards,
Beechy

MemberZach – if you get no feedback, generally people are happy. Cock it up, and you will soon hear about it!
