Ned Hutchinson is the chief product designer at Mountain Khakis, and he also has an extensive background designing other outdoor products, most notably at Cloudveil. Don’t miss his insight into how and why your outdoor clothes get made.

Enjoyed this one. Pretty interesting perspectives on a subject I never really put much thought into.

Cool, thanks for the feedback Jay. I get almost none, so it’s always appreciated.

Zach, I have to say, I love the authentic inquiring approach, showcasing a real quest to expand knowledge. You direct your questions with an educated mind that really wants to understand the thought or reason behind actions/approaches/etc. I have been listening to a few conventional fishing and fly fishing podcasts lately, and some of them are painful to get through. It’s almost as if some of the hosts do not understand the information the guest is giving. I enjoy how you analyze the info as it’s given and pry deeper into the answers to project a better understanding of the concepts at hand. Keep it up. I always hope the seasons last longer than they do. I realize it’s a lot of work to produce the series; I’m sure I don’t speak just for myself when I say that we appreciate your dedication to bringing this podcast to the listeners.

Thanks guys, and Chad I appreciate the feedback. That method must be ingrained in me by now — it’s the same querying technique we use as lawyers in depositions, except that I’m actually interested in the answers on the podcast (as opposed to being professionally diligent).

Nice interview Zach. It’s interesting to hear the behind-the-scenes development that goes into even some of the simplest gear we use, like pants, particularly from a top-end company like MK.
