MemberI wish i could say the catching was as good as the fishing, but it wasn’t, and we got skunked. It was a great day for photos, and i got to work on my spey casting technique a bit. The location is the lower Pere Marquette, about 20 miles below the more famous “Flies Only” section. The PM flows in to Lake Michigan, supports a healthy population of browns and rainbows, as well as recieving a huge run of salmon (the stench was still in the air) in the fall and steelhead in the spring.
Please see the photoblog http://www.lucidarc.com/photoblog for descriptions on some of the photos, and a pile of other ones too.
Feel free to comment.

Cameron MortensonMemberGreat photographs. You have me missing my home state of Michigan. I’ve fished the PM a couple of times during the summer months. It is a really neat river. You’ve got snow up there now, eh?
You should have posted the B&W from your blog spot. That was my favorite one of the bunch.
I just went through a few more of the photographs on the blog…pretty damn amazing. I like real rich color quality of them. What photo computer program are you using.
Post more photographs here.
Oh…and final modify of my post…props to Walt on the pipe on a winter day.

MemberWe do have snow here now, about 18″ up by the PM from what i understand. I live a couple hours south near holland, right in the lake effect snow band area. We have about 6-8 on the ground here.
The PM is a great river, and changing for the better for the most part. The Flies Only went to no-kill, which makes it a great, although pressured, section. I have been spending some time in the upper parts, above M-37 and although there aren’t as many fish, there are virtually no people. And you would be suprised how many 18″ers are around up there.
I did all the editing (although pretty minor stuff) on these pics in Lightroom, i finally sat down and figured out how to use it, and i think it does alot better job than photoshop for the minor editing and color tweaks. Best of all, its not destructive editing, as it stores your changes to the images (even jpegs) in a separate file. I also really like the rating and filter systems, makes it real easy to edit a shoot down to the keepers.

I’ll get some more photos up here in the next couple days, i have a pile or them that i finally have the time to sit down and go thru.
