Board members Andrew Wright and Thomas Nelson were kind enough to invite me along on their church youth group outing to Noontootla Creek and the Noontootla Farms Sporting Clays course.  Had a real good time.

Being a super-savvy 21st century kind of guy, Thomas led Bible study around the campfire with his iPad.  Easily the coolest church youth function I have ever attended and I think the folks there really enjoyed it.

However newcomers would be forgiven for wondering if they’d missed out on the memo about wearing the new Cult Footwear…

I hear these are all the rage in the discotheques of Milan right now. (Actually Andrew and Thomas are going to climb Mt. Rainier this summer and they were breaking in their high altitude kicks).

Like most youth ministers, Thomas is wicked good with a shotgun.

This course has one of those great rabbit throwers that bounces a clay along the ground in a totally unpredictable way.  Also… golf carts!

Unfortunately for Thomas, and for that matter for Andrew, both of whom are excellent shots, top honors went to Youth member Stephen with his 76/100.  Yours truly just barely failed to break 50%, but I’ll take it.

This was my consolation prize; a deep-fried Oreo from an Ellijay barbecue shack.  They fried it in funnel cake batter!

Great fun, thanks for inviting me guys.
