I almost put this in the Christmas thread, but I started thinking and decided maybe I’d like to hear some discussion:

I got a pair of Boga Grips amongst my Christmas presents.

I think they are great! They are definitely on my want list. As far as the fish thing, I think you are dead on on how it’s better on the fish than the normal treatment/release they get. Most people that comment on them probably are basing it on blind opinion and not personal experience. Boga’s are also made in my home state, Alabama, so that a plus also.

I think most of the animosity comes from the grip-n-grin mentality a lot of people who incidentally happen to use boga grips possess.

Maybe I have a little of that grip-and-grin mentality too.

I have owned a Boca for several years and I have nothing but good to say about them. I don’t oil them or maintian them in any way but they still look brand new. Good ole AMERICAN MADE QUALITY PRODUCT!!! (Need A emoticon flipping a finger to China) I reeeeeally like them when I am Carp fishing with a fly rod. Most people who bad mouthed them are

Naw, you guys saw how I work.

Even with the bogas, I think it’s necessary to put a second hand back on the belly to support the weight of the fish, rather than leaving it hanging by its jaw parts.  Same goes without the boga when lifting up a big bass, catfish, etc., IMHO.

I don’t want it on my conscience that some fish thrashed around and got his face ripped off.

    By the way:

If it feels good, and it’s legal, then do it.

That’s all well and good until somebody shows up at the trout stream wearing a cheerleader outfit and an angora sweater…

Scud, where are you going (I guess “where did you go,” now) in Belize?

    bd,

We are going to Caye Caulker.

The flats around Ambergris Caye had very good numbers of bonefish.

I think the Boca grip on big fish is the only way to go. It makes handling and releasing much quicker, which in turn is easier on the fish than trying to geta handle on him after you’ve netted him and thrown him in the boat. The minute you get the grip on it freezes the fish just like lippin a small bass, and you can get a photo and get the fish back in the water. It also is much easier on the thumbs and wrist. 8)

It will not open on my computer either.

I could use some help. Maybe since the photo is on a secure web site it won’t let you in. Any ideas on how I can post if I put it in my documents as a .jpg?

    Thanks

    JustFishing-

Host it somewhere that is open, like myfishingpictures.com, or http://www.villagephotos.com, or if you can’t make that work email it to me.

    Zach,

Thanks. I’ll try that. Give me a bit.

Go to photobucket.com and create an account. It will give you a link to use to post it.
