Joel ThompsonMemberGuys I got to see a showing of the new Simms product line yesterday and there are going to be somethings that will surprize you all! Some really good new stuff and some that will certainly cause a little bit of a stir in the fly fishing community.
One of Simms biggest sellers last year was the G3 convertable wader. They had a tough time keeping up with the orders according to the rep. Zach, I hate to break this to you in a thread but it looks like you owe me a six pack! 🙂

MemberCan someone tell me why they stopped making the Guide Pants. That is the one piece of equipment that usually stayed with me like my rod. Now I have to get them from another manufacture.
I do have to say – I messed up and bought the G3 stockingfoots instead of the convertible because I didnt know the convertible existed. The stockingfoots are sweet but I miss my pants.
Another question – Is YKK based out of Marietta?

MemberYKK is a Japanese company.

MemberKevin – I’m in the same boat… at the time of purchase didn’t know they existed. The pants would have been nice for backcountry fly fishing. Every ounce I get out of my pack is worth it!

MemberYKK is a Japanese company.
I never really thought about it until this thread but the reason I asked was because I use to pass a YKK plant daily right outside of old town Marietta.
Brian, I am going to find out out much the pants would be special ordered. I’ll let everyone know. Even the lightest weight version would rock.

The Itinerant AnglerYKK certainly has some connection to the ATL – there is a huge YKK sign not far from the airport on a billboard.

MemberI talked to Simms… No Deal – The closest they will do is the new G3 Guide Convertible.
They said that maybe I could find them on the internet so this is all I can find in the pant wader category.
Toggs Hellbender 99.99
Hodgman Wadelite 99.99
Cabela’s Guidewear 179.99
Cabela’s Premium Dry-Plus 99.99

MemberCloudveil makes some pants as well (Crystal Creek Wading Pant), but they retail for $369. I searched for a long time for the Simms pants but finally gave up and got some of the older Simms Classic Guide waders on a deep discount when the new ones came out.

The Itinerant AnglerKevin –
Why don’t you consider waiting, oh, a few more weeks?

MemberOur rep came by yesterday, and I was told by our store owner that there will be a Simms wader pant, he didnt say it was a convertible either, so….who knows
i do like the cloudveil pant though

Membercool… Paul, the cloudveils look sweetl but are spendy. Could you let me know if the Simm’s offer a pant and I’ll come down to the shop?

MemberCloudveil has a new wading pant coming out for $250 in the Hellroaring Creek series. Pretty cool and 4 layers below the knee, so they’re gonna be tough. I’ve been wearing a “sample” pair for awhile now and they’re pretty dang bombproof.

MemberYou guys got me thinking and as a pant – I would love to see is Patagonia came out with one also. The Patagonia waders tend to be a little softer and would be like wearing a regular pair of pants.
James – I’ll ask about cloudveils when i come down – the Hawk already has most all of my business. You all have been great with replacing most of my stuff and really helped with insurance info.

MemberKevin,
I’m not familiar with the product you’re talking about, but if it’s waders that are similar to pants, Dan Bailey’s has some that I noticed in their recent catalog: Â http://www.dan-bailey.com/products_dbwaders.htm
I think you might be talking about the Waist Hi’s? Â Supposedly Dan Bailey’s waders are very nice – I don’t own a pair but I’ve heard good things.

MemberBean has a couple of pairs too.

MemberAnyone here familiar with the website steepandcheap.com ? Â They regularly have Cloudveil Crystal Creek waders for less than $150.00, for that price you could make them in to a sweet pair of pants and have some material left over for repairs down the road.

Joel ThompsonMemberKP just take Zach’s advice and wait a couple of weeks. Trust me he knows what he is talking about!

MemberI’m on my second pair of Dan Bailey’s Waist High waders and I wouldn’t own anything else. I hate chest highs unless I’m in a huge river. The Dan Bailey’s have pockets on the outside, which is perfect to put a flybox in one pocket and a point and shoot in the other pocket. The reason I’m on the second pair is that the first pair had a leak in the seam after owning about 14 months…they sent me a new pair at no cost.
I’m anxious to see the new Simms products as well. I like Simms stuff even if I can’t afford much of it.

Member🙂
Two thread’s and I have to wait on both of them. Waders and a lens.
