    Hey guys,

I live in TN and am new to the board. I have fished all over the west and just had a great week on the white river this past week.

I am very interested in becoming a better photographer and I am always up for fishing trips.

I have a drift boat and routinely float the Hiwassee if anyone is down my way just shoot me an email and maybe we can hook up.

    Welcome DBunch,

I’m headed that way mid- March. Probably going to set up in Townsend for a few days and fish around. Only fished the Hiwassee once. Camped at the campground in Reliance and fished up from there. (wading) Lots of 12″s
Beautiful especially up around the stairs.

dbunch, I live in Ooltwah and fish the Hiwassee as often as possible. I don’t have a boat and would love to float the river. I would like to learn how to row a drifter. Maybe we could fish sometime this spring. Photography is what I do for a living if you want to learn I can help in that area.

The Hiwassee is a beautiful river with different characteristics depending on water generation. It has a large insect population with many hatches to match. It is pretty much unwadeable when they are generating two or more generators, but very wadeable with one or less.

It is a pretty tough river to row a drift boat down, especially the trophy section, but once you learn the lines it is not too bad.

The average size of fish is maybe 10 inches with an occasional 14-20 inch fish thrown into the mix.

If I was going to make a two hour drive to the Hiwassee, I would try to hit the sulphur hatch in June, which can be really good.

For generation schedule call 1-800-238-2264 and follow the menus. If you have any questions just shoot me an email.
