I thought I would introduce myself to the group, although I have met a couple of you.  (Been fishing with Neal Osborne at the FFF Conclave for two years and Zack joined us for lunch one day)

I live in Charlotte.  For fly fishing, I concentrate on the small, wild streams in the NC mountains (mostly in the Morganton area) — I like to hike in away from the crowds.  I also fish freshwater from my kayak on occasion.  (probably going tomorrow).  I am interested in saltwater fishing but I don’t have much exposure to that area of the sport.  A Louisiana trip for redfish sounds like a good idea.  I hope to make it to PA for steelhead this fall.

Bamboo rods have become a recent interest of mine.

I tie some flies but nothing to brag about.

I also dabble in digital photography and photoshop.

    I shoot ducks and clays.

I ride a road bike (bicycle).

Married with two small kids, so sometimes my hobbies get pushed aside — but it is all good.

    Thanks for having me.

    Regards,

    Aaron Christensen

Welcome Aaron, great to see you finally joined the site.  How’s the grill 😉  Haven’t heard from you since we fished at Callaway.  Hope all is going well in NC.

I didn’t know you had a bamboo rod, is that a new purchase?  I am still in love with my new fiberglass fly rod and I think I will stay with the glass niche.

Thanks for the welcome.  I have had my first nice bamboo rod for about a year now — a  7 ft 5wt Mike Brooks rod.  One of these days I will take Bill Oyster’s class on building your own.  I do like fiberglass, too.  Another favorite rod is an 8 ft 4wt Hardy glass rod.

I forgot to mention ceramic smokers/grills as a hobby.  I like that, too.  I use a GrillDome.  Funny thing is, there are people who love their ceramic grills as much as we love fishing.
