MemberMy PC was finally dying on me so I had to upgrade and I decided to go with Mac after 15 years of PC.
Pretty neat so far but I have alot of software to umm hmm get together again. I need CS4 for Mac and some kind a web developer program I assume dreamweaver. Any advice for a new mac user would be appreciated.
Do you all use iphoto for you library?

David AndersonMemberIphoto is fairly quick, but I just use a system of folders from jobs or trips that are done by date.
Bridge in Photoshop CS is a good editing program and an easy way to keep things organized.

MemberMike,
I use to use Aperture, but when I got CS4 I started using Bridge for organization, and it works well for my needs. As far as getting the new software you need, do you have a family member or friend who is attending any university? Or do you know any teachers? My wife is a teacher, and she is also doing her Master’s, which allowed us to pick up CS4 at a very good price. But there is one caveat to buying student/teacher software: depending on what you are getting, you may not be entitled to upgrades when they come out as you did not purchase the full version.D.

MemberMy daughter will be enrolling at UTC soon so I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks
I’m impressed wih the Mac so far but I’ve got to get to work getting my photos moved over from an external drive (NTFS) :-[. Until now my library of photos has been kinda of a random mess but I plan to start over now wih a new system/software and stick to it.
There is so much to do on there that’s new to me that I end up playing more then I’m working… Are there any nice web dev programs for free out there?

MemberIf you already have CS4 for a PC, Adobe will switch versions for you (for free, if I am not mistaken) so long as you provide a certificate of destruction. Call them for the specifics of the deal. If you have an older version, they will do a switch/upgrade for the usual upgrade fee.
I did a switch and an upgrade, so there was a fee with my changeover.

MemberMike . . . sorry I haven’t responded to this thread earlier; time is a scarce commodity lately. Congrats on the new Mac! You will have a steep learning curve ahead of you but it is worth the effort. I have been with Mac forever so much of the minutia is just second nature by now. However, if you want to ramp up quickly then consider a one month subscription to Lynda.com. They have some very high yield tutorials on the Mac operating system with many pearls of wisdom.

MemberThank you Neal I will definantly consider that. So far the learning curve hasn’t been all that bad thanks in part to Google.
I still haven’t found a web development program. I’m not really interested in Dreamweaver, what do you all use?

I have used iWeb and Dreamweaver in the past; both have their strengths and weaknesses.
