    Hello,

    Just wanted to say hi.  I’m hopefully going to be moving to eastern TN.  Granted everything goes good next week (interview).  Anyways I was asking around on some other boards about TN and was directed to this site.  I’ve got to say it looks amazing.  It puts my little blog to shame.

    Also since I’m going to be in TN next weekend I’m planning on doing some hiking/fishing in the smokies.  If anyone has some must to day hikes or streams to hit, I’d appreciate any suggestions.

    A must hit bar/grill in the Sevierville/Gatlinburg area would be good to.  Anything to get me to have a real feel for TN would be great.  I’m not too big on doing too much touristy stuff.

    Hey CanoeFlyGuy-

    Thanks for the comments on the site.  Where did you ask, just so I know who recommended us?

    Gatlinburg/Sevierville is very very touristy and I would avoid being in town there as much as possible.  If you are up for a little drive, Barley’s in Knoxville’s Old City is about a half hour away and very cool.  I believe Blount County is dry and I’ve never seen a bar per se over in Townsend.

    Gatlinburg is literally about as un-Tennessee as a town can get.  Knoxville is a very cool town though and you couldn’t go wrong hitting the Old City.  Just follow these directions:

    href=”http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rsres=1&1a=&1c=sevierville&1s=TN&1z=&2a=200+E+Jackson+Ave&2c=Knoxville&2s=TN&2z=

    When you are in the Smokies, go to Elkmont and fish up Little River from the campsite trailhead.  I would walk in a mile or so before starting.  Alternatively, go over to Tremont on the west side of the Park and fish anywhere along the road.  I am going to be fishing the Smokies this weekend – when did you say you were coming?  Drop me a message here and I will let you know what is working.

    Thanks,
    Zach
