New guy – CA hex hatch

Hello everyone.
New guy here. Im from Northern CA. I’m a college student going on my 5th year, and loving every minute of it. The nex hatch has been going off at a couple lakes up in the mountains and I got to get out with the crowds tonight. Before the hex started, we caught a few trout up one of the rivers on copper johns.
At about 5 we headed down to the lake and tied on the hex nymphs. Stuck the brown on a nymph and the bow on a dry. Personal best dry fly fish ;D
Sweet rainbow! The hex hatch is one I want to try and hit one of these days…thanks for the motivation…
This is the first summer I’ve fished it. I am learning a LOT… It’s deffinelty not something to do if you’re into catching a ton of fish, but more just a prime opportnity to catch a trophy fish on a dry fly. That bowbow had me within 10 yards of the end of my backing. What a thrill…
