    Hey Folks,

Just wanted to give you advance warning that the new American Angler Online Fly-Fishing Community has gone live, so check it out. The rest of the angling world finds out when the November/December issue hits the stands later this month.

Similar to popular community sites such as Facebook and MySpace, the new fly-fishing and fly-tying network from American Angler allows you to create a Web page that’s all yours, complete with its own unique Web address. Everything is free, and set up is as simple as answering a few questions. On your new site, you’ll get a free blog, unlimited photo and video uploads, and a way to manage your RSS feeds.

This is a completely different animal from Zach’s site, here. It’s really more of an Internet home base from which you can explore the rest of the virtual world (including The Itinerant Angler, of course).

Since you are in control, you decide who has access to your site. If there’s a tiresome bore who is bugging you about the correct number of wraps on a Catskill dry fly, just block him, and the problem’s solved. If you want to create a discussion group that includes just your friends, go ahead; the possibilities for group topics and membership are endless.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about before you join, then check out my personal site on the network at

You’ll see my blog, a slideshow of my fishing images, and a cool music player that cranks out some of kickass tunes. What you won’t see is my “hub” on the site, where I manage all the displayed information and add features. The user is the only one who controls that part of his or her site.

This thing is really cool, and I encourage you to give it a try. If you ever wanted a home base on the Web—a virtual place for all your stuff—but were too busy (or lazy) to create one from scratch, this is the site for you.

    Log on to http://members.americanangler.com

    Thanks,

    Phil

That’s really cool, even though I still don’t fully understand it (because I’m net stupid ;))..

I’ll muck around with it and see what happens.

    Thanks.

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.
