    1) It’s not about right or wrong Dave. Do note, it was you that said I was wrong about near everything. In my world or the real world I would expect anyone to say “really”? In other words it doesn’t me, that you feel I’m wrong about everything. You like Sups, your really happy, see Pros. Far be it for me to ell you your wrong. I do think when a person is told they are wrong, they are entitled to explain reasoning, “defend” their take. Kind of how life works.

It does seem as though your quite bothered to have the assertion questioned, “challenged” in a non confrontational manner, polite, logical manner.

    2) when you have to resort to insults rather than….whose trolling?

    3) Zach writes for American Angler, this article published in AA is directed at who???? That would be AA readers.Oh yeah, the broader market. Hundreds of thousands of readers who fish for all kinds of things, in all kinds of ways, in all kinds of waters, conditions, and yes including climates. Northern climes? I have to believe SuPs are getting stowed once temps dip. Short season vs long season from ice out to ice in.
The gist of this article is focusing on the benefits of Stand up/Sight fishing and the various PW that can allow you to take advantage of that specific style.

Two little innocuous comments about why they may never have the same appeal for the broader market.

    Look in the mirror Dave.

    John,

Please cut the holier-than-thou act. Non-confrontational manner, polite, logical manner? I don’t mind that at all. However, there’s a <lot> in your posts that comes across as condescending if not directly offensive, and I have little interest in a pissing match over this.

I’m glad you like your Hobie and that you think everyone else who cares anything about safety and efficiency and peace on Earth should own one. That said, opinions are like… well, you know.

Too much bitching means not enough fishing. We got to get off the computers and back on the water in our preferred small water craft.
Dave, whatcha’ doin’ the next 2 weekends. I’d love to go chase those backcountry “Deliverence” Muskies on a SUP. With a stowed firearm, of course.

Obviously you guys missed the Superior small craft for portable stand up fly fishing….
The one and only Coleman Crwdad.

You can tow it out of knee deep mud ramps.

Hey, I appreciate the discussion but there’s no need for anyone to get offended in any way. These are just opinions about boats here.

Thanks to all those who have participated in this thread.

I found out about Coleman crawdads a few weeks ago. Those are cool little boats. Aren’t they molded like kayaks?

Jay, they are made of HDPE plastic just like Kayaks. They are only a shell like a canoe. The older ones have an aluminum frame that usually requires some minor repair if they get banged around…you can occasionally find one on CL for around $300. Ive found the newer models at Dick’s Sporting goods before for around $600—and they are shallower in the hull with no internal frame.
These wont handle heavy rapids too well, but you can drag them anywhere you have a reasonable gradient riverbank. Add a 2.5 hp kicker motor, a small 30 lb Minn Kota (reversed) on the bow connected to a car battery, and you’ve got a very versatile truckbed river boat.

Of course, I realize this is totally out of the Kayak/SUP category….but I fish mine year round with tons of gear. I’ll never be without one of these boats, if I can help it.
