Chad,
Why do you want the Sage Launch? And I am not trying to be rude, just get you to think about your purchases. Do you favor this rod b/c of its price-point? If that is the case, there are plenty of other rods on the market for the same coin. Your best bet is to cast/fish rods before you buy. But someone just starting in this sport is not too likely to know what to look for in terms of quality and/or feel when they walk into a fly shop. Then you are stuck at the mercy of the guys in the shop…which can be good or bad. So, your best option is to go fish with a friend and use his gear until you begin to understand how and why certain rods behave the way they do. Also ask yourself what species of fish you are most likely to be hunting most often. That 8wt. you have will work on LMB at Lake Fork, but it is worthless in Zone 1 at BB.
