Wife and i are flying in from Alberta Canada for the Tom Petty show in Nashville this spring. Its going to be a music type trip, fly into new Orleans for a few days up the the blues highway to Memphis for a few days than off to Nashville.
She wants to go to Dolly World which I have no interest in so figure may as well go fishing. We have lots of trout up here so I’m more interested in Bass and Carp. Sure would appreciate any and all advice on guides, restaurants live music bars .
I’d go with Mike Anderson if he is still guiding. If he’s not, he should be able to suggest who could guide you. I fish up there a lot in the spring time, but I’ve not used a guide. Mike was featured in one of the old IA podcasts.
There’s rivers close by to the Nashville area that you can chase Striper, Smallmouth, and Muskie. There’s a couple local shops that guide, Flysouth and Jones fly company.
As far as live music, there’s many a stones throw away from each other down on lower Broadway. I like Roberts Western World, they have an awesome house band. I enjoy Layla’s as well, but there are plenty to chose from.
For eats I like Jacks BBQ, Broadway brew house, and a nicer joint being the Southern. These are all in walking distance of the music venues. I live about 15 min south of Nashville so don’t hesitate if you have anymore questions about the area.
I live in Memphis, and guide mostly in Arkansas, but know plenty of places in Mississippi and Tennessee for some under the radar fun stuff. Reach out, let me know if there is anything I can do, be it guiding or just pointing in the right directions.
