Here are a few I threw together last night after spending some serious time learning how to spin hair and pack it.

The big one is 7 inches the smaller is about 5

Cool stuff.  Good ties, nice and tight.  What thread are you using?

Im not really sure Neal. I got into tying my senior year of high school. Im now a freshman in college and have just accumulated a small amount of material over that time. It is just one of the danville waxed thread that doesnt have any labeling on it. It seems to hold up good.

Nathan, you tie some great flies – and it looks like you are having fun!  That’s where it all starts.

As for the thread questions, I am just trying to get a feel for what you are using.  Spinning deer hair is much more rewarding if you are able to “yank and tug” without breaking the thread.  Most people get frustrated when starting out because they end up using any old thread laying around.  Your flies will turn out best if you use at least 210 denier flat waxed, or better yet GSP (gel spun).  It is the cheapest investment you will ever make for the greatest reward.

There is a picture of GSP below.

Here is a good article on spinning deer hair by Christopher Helm from Fly Fisherman Magazine Online http://www.flyfisherman.com/ftb/chdeerhair/

    Good work!!!

You can judge a man by the size of things which annoy him.

Try tying them in all white and you’ve got a killer snook pattern.
