A few pics from last weekend. I only fished below CC for a few hours and had one of those awesome Montana storms blow through.

I took the second picture as I backed out the way as the angler played his fish down … Flows are a little high out of CC and I could see that he was struggling to turn his fish into shallow water. When he got within shouting distance he told me that he had not landed a fish in the couple of days he had been fishing here and he really wanted to land this fish .. Next thing I knew his net was sailing over the water to me. He had a huge smile and his fish in hand 3 mins later. This will probably be my best fishing moments of the year.

Ahhh Spool Alley.  I remember it like yesterday.  I used to drive up from Idaho and camp out by the dam and fish like a mad man in 2001.  Fishing that far sandy bluff bank is Awesome.  There are some mammoth browns lurking in those undercuts. I had one bust off my streamer using 1X in a 5 second battle that left me dumbfounded.

Nice photos and thanks for sharing

Thanks for the compliments. Its amazing to me how many memories I can associate with this small stretch right below the dam. You meet some great people AND get some good stories!

TWiles: No doubt about there being some hogs in there! I break off a couple of “those” fish every year .. Not on 1x though! Now that must have been a monster!

timscott: Yes .. These were heavily altered. The first 3 were tone mapped and then taken back into PS for a little more … Even though the post is a bit heavy handed, I feel like they illustrate how I ‘felt’ that day … Everything was super vivid, this being my first trip up this year.

Mark: Do it! I dont think you’ll be sorry!

What kind of camera were these taken on?

They were taken with a Canon xti … sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC MACRO and 10mm F2.8 EX DC Fisheye HSM (for the last pic)

Very cool – I’ll probably move this over to the photography threads so I don’t hijack your post.
