    Zach’s post on grammah started a discussion about compound words, and one of those words was ‘rodmaker’.  

    The discussion caused me to think about a ‘yarn’ called “Morris the Rodmaker” that John Voelker wrote in his book Trout Magic.  The first line in that essay is, “Fly rods are like Cornish pasties — both are best made for love rather than for money.”

    The memory of that story caused me to search the internet for ‘Morris the Rodmaker’.  In doing so, I learned that Morris’ grandson made a video about his grandfather that aired on PBS in the early 80’s.  Evidently, he is selling a DVD with the original video and interviews with John Voelker and bamboo rodmaker Bob Summers:

    I placed an order today, so I haven’t seen the video yet.  However, here is a trailer that prominently features commentary from the good judge Voelker:
