Today was an epic day of fishing on the Hootch!  A blizzard BWO hatch came off around 3:30pm and the river came alive.  It was dry fly heaven with size 22’s.  I got up the nerve to take the iPhone out in moving water and snap a few live action shots.

    Neal,

These are sweet. I followed the previous iPhoneography post you posted on to and I have to say, your leads were great. As a photographer, the one camera that is always with me is most definitely the iPhone. And now, It’s a better tool since adding those apps. Especially at $2.99 vs. $2000.99.

    Thanks.

Hi Kevin, I sure hope you had the iPhone on vibrate during that hunting trip, LOL.  I love the vignette with the bird hunters.

I have been teaching iPhoneography at the local photography clubs and find that it is an invaluable tool.  Interestingly, the amateur photographers seem to be the quickest to take up the technology; probably because they focus on it’s strengths and don’t realize it’s weaknesses.  I agree with what you said, “the one camera that’s always with me . . .” attitude is surely a positive spin.  In the “digital” age of blogs/Twitter/Facebook, one often just needs a quick and dirty artistic shot or two to document a trip.  But for making art and/or money, nothing beats a DSLR and RAW!

By the way . . . WOW . . . your fishing and hunting photographs are awesome!  I couldn’t right-click and link this photo from your site, but EVERYONE CHECK THIS OUT http://www.kevinemery.com/Fishing/Grip-and-Grin-1/12108749_j8SR2#1182964841_Gc7fM-A-LB

Those are great shots Neal. I like how your focus is sharp in the right places on the fish…something I am still battling.
