MemberWho: The family (none had fly fishing experience)
What: Fly fishing vacation
Where: Bozeman – Rivers = Yellowstone, Jefferson, Madison
When: Last week, fall
Why: Because it was on my list of things to do!Funny quip – My mother, a rank amateur, landed the biggest trout, a nice 22″ rainbow.
BIG Sky

The Yellowstone and Jefferson were fishing o.k., but low flows kept it off a bit.

Beautiful cliffs

Browns on the hoppers – a blast!

Good day all around

The Madison!

The Flies!

Good Trip!

MemberAbsolutely stunning images as always Neal.
Love the effect on the clouds, how does one achieve that? Need a specific lens?
Sep 27, 2010 at 1:25 pm #44931Neal Osborn
MemberThanks everyone – it really was a great trip.
Adam – I don’t know the name of that section of river – it is possible you are correct.
Daryl – Thanks for the comments – the cloud shots are actually taken without a filter. They are however exposed for the clouds and then rendered in LR or Photoshop using a gradient filter.

Michael PhillippeMemberNeal, Great stuff and glad you had a good fishing trip. Montana in the fall is wonderful. If I hadn’t just spent a week in Alaska, I’d be jealous. 🙂
Ditto on the question about clouds and lens type. Also where is that bar? I thought I had been in most of the good bars in Montana by now! Can’t believe I missed that one.

MemberThanks Neal.
Could one use CS3 instead or LR?Would I be able to achieve that look on my pics with a lens that can do 17mm?
