Hola amigos (or something to that effect),

I have very tactically managed to convince my parents that I am not, in fact, too old to accompany them on family holidays and, as such, I’m heading to Cuba and Mexico in January. We’ve got about 2 weeks in each, none of which is specifically laid out for fishing time. I’m going to try and squeeze a few days in though, preferably with a guide as I’m somewhat challenged when it comes to saltwater fly.

Does anyone have suggestions for fishing in either country? It sounds like it’s a bit more accessible in Mexico and that Cuba is all locked up with lodges?

    Any advice is truly appreciated!

Where are you going to be in Mexico?

Cuba – I know nothing about – but would love to go.

I have a good friend that goes to Cuba about six times a year. I can give you his email if you want to talk to him.

Recent articles in The Drake and Fly Rod & Reel might give some insights as well as contacts.

Thanks guys. Going to be predominantly in the central and eastern regions of Cuba. Mexico will be within a few hundred km of Mexico City. At this stage it’s looking like the best go will be to talk Dad into springing for a couple of days with a guide.
