Just got back from 3 days of fishing with Capt Nick Sassic and Capt Scott MacCalla down in the Louisiana Marsh.  Didnt see any signs of oil or damage from the oil spill.  And the fishing was off the charts good.

Check out a video these guys did with RA Beattie the week before I got out there.  Redfish on the top is a whole new dimension to fishing down there.

    Great video Tim

I read a report this week from David Mangum and he said that this is the best year of LA fishing that he ever remembers.

Did you get any good pics?

I am happy to say that they are right and the fishing in this part of the gulf is the best that any of us can remember. I think it could have been the lack of fishing pressure during the spill. Either way this place is really wide open and with the water clearing during the winter its a great time to come.

Some photos (photobucket appears to have processed them a bit beyond what I had done on PS):

The one on the left boga’ed at 23lbs.  The one on the right was 16lbs.

This one came in at 21.

And one of many on poppers.

Again, hats off to Capt Nick Sassic and Capt Scott MacCalla for putting me on some amazing fish.

Hot damn, Tim!  Great stuff right there.  The double in the first photo is ridiculous.

I was going to post my initial reaction to that 32lber, but the expletives may offend some people!
