I didn’t want to hijack the Mac vs. PC thread, so I figured I’d start a new one. Granted, it’s a little odd to post IT questions on a Flyfishing Photography board, but you guys seem to be loaded with knowledge, so here we go…

I’m thinking of setting up a home network. I’ve got a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and a new desktop PC running Windows 7. I also want to hook up a printer to the mix. Would it be better to set this up using an Apple product like Airport Express or Airport Extreme, or set it up from the PC side using a Linksys or other brand of wireless router? The idea of streaming itunes to a stereo makes the Airport option intriguing. I may share photos or files between computers, but I don’t need a whole lot of synching between the two – I keep the desktop as a Photoshop machine (more processing bang for the buck) and the Macbook for everyday stuff like iTunes and having iPhoto albums portable.

Anybody gone down this road? Do Macs and PCs play nicely these days? Any thoughts?

Thanks for the good reads in the other threads.

    John –

I’ve been down this road so maybe I can comment intelligently.

They’ll play nicely together no matter which router you use.

Thanks for the help, guys. I’ll give those ideas a shot.
