I picked up some of the Loon soft weight and though I have not fished with it yet, it seems like some awesome stuff. If its like the rest of the Loon products I buy, I am sure it will perform as advertised. No more trying to pick up those itty bitty splits with no fingernails. I also won’t miss the way they slide up and down the line and never seem to stay put. Splitshot, have you tried this stuff ;D

They also have something called Bio Glow that is a glowing strike indicator. Let’s plan some night fishing trips this year.

Some of my friends (the Campbells and Carter McLeod, who posts here) went up to the Big Horn last summer, and that stuff is all the rage up there.

I’ve been wanting to try some night fishing for quite a while.

I know the period where they switch from rod to cone vision or vice versa is a tough time to catch anything. I think some further R&D is in order. My biggest concern in the summer is that darned fog. It gets so thick in the summer that you could get real turned around if you weren’t careful.

I agree on the “further R&D.”

    Mike,

I haven’t tried the Loon product yet. I’ve been pretty content with shot. A San Juan guide–same guy who developed the simple thread midge ties that are popular now (Yong?)–employs a pretty neat and simple way to fish shot. It stays put and is much easier to cast. He begins near the terminal end with smaller lead and then spaces it up the leader with increasingly larger shot. I carry tubs of micro and standard sizes, but use the micro the most, which is kind of hard to find.

I bought a tube of Aqua Glo last year to use at night for snook; I haven’t fished it yet. I am going to AR at the end of the month and will probably spend part of a night experimenting some.

Amen on the micro shot being hard to find.

The Fly Chucker used to carry it. I didn’t think to buy more last year when Chuck closed his shop because I was still pretty well stocked. Seven months later I was feeling the bottoms of my pockets looking for scraps.

I spent a week fishing in CO last July and was very surprised to not find
