Ok, I know this is not exciting stuff, but I am writing a paper for an MBA class and am in need of some information. Web searches have not been overly productive thus far. I figure there are enough industry and professional-types hitting this board that someone may be willing to point me in the right direction.

First I am looking for general industry information: total dollars spent on the industry as a whole, numbers of fly fishers, etc. More specifically, the fly rod segment: total sales volume and class-specific information (entry level, mid grade, premium freshwater rods, etc).

If anyone can give me publication or database name, or even links, I would really appreciate it. If someone has this data already, I would be eternally grateful!!!

Feel free to contact me directly at bauerm2@xavier.edu if you like. Just to clarify, this paper is not intended for publication.

    Thanks and tight lines!

You are asking questions that most of the people in the industry have struggled for years to answer.

Thanks for the info. Ive checked out the AFFTA sites recommended and will make a phone call or two.

It looks like, Zach, you are spot on with this being being proprietary stuff. Your interview with Rick Pope of Temple Fork Outfitters got me thinking about this a while ago. A good opportunity to do something fun for a class…

Thanks for the insight, gents. Im open to any other suggestions.
