I am looking for beta on the Elk river that flows out of Tims ford dam around Winchester, Tn. Directions from Chattanooga, wading access points, and any general info to help me out would be great.

    thanks

Hey Dbunch sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner but it was a rough weekend. The Elk is a decent river but I just don’t fish it often enough to give any real helpful advice on it. There are several access points, the most common is going to be the one directly below the dam. There’s another one down stream on Ferris bridge road or something like that. I really am not familiar with the area so I can’t give you directions. What you should do is invest $13 in a TN Gazetteer and find the access points with it. The Elk is a decent river but not my favorite by far. I might suggest that if you’re driving from Chattanooga, you go more east towards the park or Hiwassee, Tellico, etc. But that’s just my opinion…

    Hey Mike,

I float the Hiwassee alot and was looking for something I have never fished. My local flyshop runs guided trips on the Elk and he has been telling me how good the fishing can be.

    Thanks
