    Hey All,
Just registered and wanted to start off with a post reguarding line care. I recently replaced my 5 & 7 wt lines and hope to get a bit more mileage out of the new ones. I’m sure that the upgrade in lines will help but would anyone mind disclosing any line cleaning tips that could get me some of that elusive extra performance?

Thanks Tony and sorry I didn’t answer this earlier.

Here are my long-life line tips:

    1) Keep it off the ground.

Thanks for the info! I’ve had a couple of guys telling me about their Armor-all tricks and that never seemed to be a viable option for me.

I have used ZipCast on Orvis Wonderline for little over year so far with no ill effects. When these lines first came out they supposedly didn’t ever need anything but soap and water. Now they sell a conditioner just for Wonderline???? I finally got tired of cleaning my line all the time and chanced it. I mean if your not happy with the line because it stays dirty and sounds like a violin when you cast then what have you got to lose? Zipcast is extremely easy to use. You simply apply it to a piece of cloth and run your line through it, no buffing. It cleans and lubes the line in one shot. In my case the trolling motor is usually my lines worst enemy… ;D

Hey guy’s, I can get some high grade silicon from where I work. We make medical products so it must be good stuff. I treated my boots with it and it seems to work fine.

Could I use this stuff on my fly line?

Most likely. Send me some and I will field test it for you. ;D
