    I’m heading back to RMNP in early October with some friends for a week of backcountry fly fishing (highs in the 60s, lows at 20, snow expected). We’ll be on the west side of the park (at the origin of the Colorado river).

    This will be the first time I’ve fished where my flies were ALL tied by myself (super pumped for this)! Anyway, I’ve been looking at hatch charts for when we’ll be there and it looks like most of the major hatches will be dwindling down and even the terrestrial fishing will be on the down turn. If you were going, what flies would you be certain to have in your box?

    My plan is to have:
    – very small midges
    – decent sized streamers
    – ants and beetles
    – hoppers
    – BWO emergers and drys
    – Caddis nymphs and drys
    – various small bead head nymphs (e.g., copper johns, etc)

    can you see any major omissions?
