    Well with the relative mild winter we have been experiencing, I got my fishing partner to take a day off of work and go and chase some Lake Erie steelhead.  We found a nice run to ourselves (which isn’t always that easy) and started just hooking up fish after fish.  My partner Charlie is a fishing machine, puts me to shame all the time.  He out fished me 3-1 on fish.  We managed 15 fish in less than 5 hours with many more hooks ups and losses.  Here’s one of Charlie’s many fish;

    Here is one of the fresh fish we managed out of the stream, there were plenty which makes for a good day of fishing;

    Here is the biggest steelhead of the day

    I have to send some love to KAST fishing gear.

    Eric,
    That looks awesome. I live in Cincinnati and will be heading up there several weekends in March and April. Moved up to Cincinnati a few years back and just found out about the steelhead run last year. Spent several days on the Grand last season, but didn’t catch a lot of fish. Which river were you fishing?

    Eric,
    Thanks a bunch. I fished the Elk last season as well and it is a beautiful river. What shrimp pattern do you use? That is interesting. I have primarily used eggs, caddis flies, stones, and copper johns when nymphing up there.
    Thanks
