Kayak fish for charity tournamenet trip report

don’t really fish many tournaments but i do try to do the charity ones when i can (because i donate money and still get to fish! This one was held in virginia beach and everyone was spin fishing (except me!). I fished Rudee Inlet and went everywhere to find fish(sound then out to the ocean, then back to the sound) but only landed two undersized flounder. (most kayak fishing tournaments are catch photo release)… and i now know what it is like to have someone chucking 5oz. sinkers at your boat as you are going through the inlet. Saw a dolphin, but no pic. some pics are crappy, but forgive me for not taking the dslr out of the waterproof pack in 5ft. swells. that was the job for the waterproof p&s. The next day tried my hand at lynhaven inlet. got a ride there on a friends boat. and caught a nice spec.

ha yeah, i really regretted at halfway through the ride, When it came to me I had a 8wt in the holder, full gear bag with flyboxes wading jacket wallet and phone which was UNZIPPED!!!! and a dslr and WA lens in a waterproof pack behind the seat. Then the boat hit a turn and slowed down and the kayak slid off the wake and nearly flipped. the bag opened and nearly emptied all the contents in the water. The closest call i have ever been to flipping (knock on wood)
