The lull before the storm…
It’s time to get prepared for steelhead season, which means lots of eggs, stones, and streamers.

I hear you about the steelies. I have been in tying mode the past two weeks. Go to fly the Emulator.

Do you prefer the Emulator articulated or not? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that’s a Feenstra pattern. He has some really good stuff.

Yeah that’s one of Kevin’s patterns. Normal I don’t articulate the pattern, especially now that I am on a tube fly kick. I have a ton of his patterns tied up, I need to get moving and tie a lot more up though.

It won’t be long now. I got this one back in August surf casting with the two handed off of a tributary mouth…the first of the “fall season” for me.
And couple of steelhead streamer favorites…

Well guys I am getting my first 2 handed rod in about a month, so I’m also dedicating myself to tying some nice big juicy streamers as well.
These are some basics that I have tied up lately. I need to start working on the Feenstra type patterns as well.
I got the steelhead bug so bad right now, I have been tying up steelhead streamers for at least two hours these past couple of nights. I’ll post the pics later.
And couple of steelhead streamer favorites…
Brett, what do you use for materials on these guys? I was trying to replicate over the weekend and wasn’t getting the results I wanted.
I was using a magnum strip, copper flash, couple of sili legs, marabou, some partridge feathers for the gills, ice dub for the head.
