Memberi am looking forward to booking a week long trip for summer 2010 and thought to myself, “who better to ask than the IA anglers?”
this summer, i lucked into an excursion for atlantic salmon on the fly on a private river in the Gaspe (Quebec/New Brunswick border).

Membertrue, maybe i should have been more specific: you are the only guy to respond so far!
i think trout fishing and anything in that family……cuthroats etc…..
haven’t been to montana ever and would probably put that at the top of the list along with colorado and alaska…..
but i am looking forward to suggestions!
thanks for the reply Cam.

MemberLots of great choices in northern Ontario…some accessible by road…some by train…some do require air travel….but all offer fly fishing for trout, mostly brookies (even big brookies), some even close to Aurora trout waters; check out these few:
http://www.kwagamalodge.com/ …awesome brookies….trophy brookies in Algoma Country…can fly in or go in by rail on scenic Agawa Canyon Express out of Sault Ste. Marie….and afterwardsstay for few more days in Sault Ste. Marie and you can fly fish St. Mary’s River in Soo for steelhead, Pacific salmon (especially pinks), browns, coaster brookies, even Atlantics
http://www.westcaribouair.com/ …..not a lodge per se but incredible brookie fishing
http://www.northernwoodslodge.com/ ….besides trout offers other species on the fly
http://www.perrylakelodge.com/ ….up near Matheson, Ontario…only 7 hours north of Toronto by car…brookies and even possibly Auroras…besides some big pike
http://www.cedarridgelodge.ca/main.html ….offers brookies and opportunities for Aurora trout too…plus other species tooplus great fly fishing on southern Ontario trout waters, most within a couple of hours of Toronto….lots of B&Bs, country inns available….plus great local fly shops
In this economy, most anglers are staying closer to home….and we’re really lucky in Ontario for all of the various fly fishing opportunities for trout

The Itinerant AnglerI’d either go to the Big Hole C4 Lodge in Twin Bridges, Montana (fish the Beaverhead, the Big Hole, the Ruby, the Jefferson, and the Madison–all in a week): http://www.bigholec4lodge.com/
OR
I’d go to the Crescent H Ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, and fish the Snake and their private water: http://www.crescenthranch.com/history.php

Zach
Crescent H Ranch was purchased and closed to the public. It was the best in the area, but unfortunately, now gone.

Tim AngeliMemberTodd,
I would head to the southwest Montana/southeast Idaho/Yellowstone area. There are nearly infinite choices for lodges in that area, but I’d personally like to check out the Slide Inn (http://www.slideinn.com). It’s owned by Kelly Galloup who is a Michigan boy and streamer junkie. I’ve heard nothing but good things about him, his guides, and the lodge. It’s on the Madison by Cameron, MT.
I’d also check out the Missoula area. Not sure about what your options are in terms of lodges in that area, but it’s a really solid area in terms of fishing options.
Zach’s recommendation in Twin Bridges would be another good choice.

MemberEither the Klick’s K Bar L in the Bob for sentimental reasons, or Plummer’s Tree River Lodge in Nunavut.
