Hoya Filters

I bought a new Hoya circular polarizer glass filter this past spring. It simply fell apart! It wasn’t expensive – about $60 I think – but I would have hoped for a bit better.
Are Hoya filters that low-end? What should I consider for quality and durability?
The same thing happened to me, except the hoya I bought was $140! My boss took the filter to the Seychelles and he said it simply just fell apart. We sent it back and got a new one and haven’t had a problem as of yet.
From what I know and have heard, Hoya makes a good product. I could be wrong though…

On my first ever trip to the Seychelles, I got one of those thin “Pro” Hoya CPs, thinking it would be tougher. It did not last the trip. Sent it back and got a refund. Never had problems with the cheaper Hoya CPs, they always seemed to be tough as old boots.
Been using the Singh Ray warming CPs for a while now and they are simply sublime. Expensive, but worth every single cent if you ask me.
